Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE)

ECFE provides early intervention services for Arizona's children, ages birth-5, who have a diagnosed bilateral, permanent hearing loss and/or a medically diagnosed visual impairment. The program provides services through ASDB's Regional Cooperative offices across the state in order to meet the needs of local communities. We recognize that the relationship between parents and their child is of primary importance in the child's physical, mental and emotional development and work together with the family by providing information, education and support. We also support the family during transition into preschool or kindergarten programs.

Parent Outreach Programs: Birth to Age Three

ASDB in cooperation with the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) provides federally mandated IDEA Part C services for families in the child's natural environment by specially trained staff. The state-wide program is designed to work in cooperation with other agencies and programs that may also be needed to support the child and family in meeting their needs in raising a child with a hearing or vision loss.

ASDB Preschool Programs: Age Three to Five

Children, ages three through five, who are eligible for special education services in his/her school district may be eligible to receive preschool education through ASDB

Depending on the needs of the local communities, these services may be provided through itinerant teachers or center-based settings.

Curriculum is aligned to the Arizona State Preschool Standards and center-based sites are accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children.

ASDB provides preschool services though out the State of Arizona at site-based preschools and in each of ASDB's Regional Cooperative programs. ASDB's site-based preschool programs are:

Center for Hearing Impaired Children (CHIC): Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma

Visually Impaired Preschool (VIP): Phoenix and Tucson
